Understanding IPv6 prefixes

A /48 reserves 48 bits for the network portion. Splitting that allocation into /64 networks uses 16 additional subnet bits, which creates 65,536 possible /64s.

No IPv6 broadcast address

IPv6 does not use the traditional IPv4 broadcast address. Multicast and Neighbor Discovery provide the mechanisms needed for local communication and discovery.
